30 THEATRICAL TERRORS: Wolf Creek (Day 5)

How can you be found when no-one knows you’re missing?

As I am a glutton for punishment,
that means I can assume you are too.
Therefore, I can recommend WOLF CREEK (2005)
only to those willing to get brought all the way down
to the bleakest pit of grim horror.

Taking a cue from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
and based on a chilling true story,
this Austrailian picture follows three tourists
as they journey into the middle of the Outback
to visit a remote meteor crater where their car breaks down
and they struggle to find a human being,
let alone an automechanic.

And, soon enough, massacre begins.
And it is a straight up harrowing,
no-holds-barred horror show that follows.
It is effecting and sobering
and truly gut wrenching.
And so sincere
that it is saddening.

And that is something this jaded horror fan found surprising.
