30 THEATRICAL TERRORS: Bubba Ho-Tep (Day 6)

You know the legends… now learn the truth.

Getting back to the kind of escapist cinema
that not only brings the creeps,
but brings the feels…
I give you this pitch:

Octogenarian Elvis and an old black man claiming to be President Kennedy versus a soul-sucking Egyptian mummy in a retirement home in East Texas.

‘Nuff said?

Thought so.

Based on Joe R. Lansdale’s brilliant novella of the same name, BUBBA HO-TEP, Bruce Campbell seemlessly takes on the role of the King, who swapped with one of his impersonators months before said impersonator died in his place on the toilet in Graceland.

A hip infection and subsequent coma explains his current state.

The late Ossie Davis is excellent as Jack, the man who may or may not be JFK.

Meanwile the ancient Egyptian mummy that was lost in a nearby river during a storm begins parading around in a cowboy outfit—sucking the souls of the old folks through their buttholes. Outraged by said butthole sucking, Elvis Aaron Presley vows to destroy said mummy or die trying!
TCB, baby.

And that is more than you need to know.

Here’s a peek at the magic behind the curtain…

MUHAMMAD ALI vs POP CULTURE

From the archives--Muhammad Ali was something of a superhero in the 60s and 1970s,
here he takes a peek at his own battle with the Man of Steel...

The King of the Ring vs the King of Rock and Roll.
Ali has a huge reach advantage...

The Fab 4 try to mouth off as energetically as Ali.

Ali meets Andre the Giant--
showing that Andre's mitt was one all boxers would envy.

Bob Dylan meets the Greatest.
Kind of Alice Cooper in the eyes there Bob?

Solo shot of Ali at his physical best, but for all of his physical gifts
we all know it was his mouth that was his most formidable weapon.

ALL HALLOW'S EVE COUNTDOWN DAY 5: THE KING DOES HALLOWEEN!

Pardon today's late blog as last night, in the middle of my attempt at posting a whole other subject for today's blog the cable company decided I shouldn't be blogging and shut me down. Alas, the Halloween spirit conquers all and here I go again...

The following photos document proof that Elvis knew how to do Halloween up right. This was Halloween of 1957 at a designer's party with the likes of Joan Bradshaw and Jeanne Carmen...

And now today's Halloween Greeting:
