COUNTDOWN TO HALLOWEEN DAY 13: MONSTER OVEREXPOSURE or TOO MUCH MONSTER?!?!
Frankenstein's monster has been and always will be a popular monster--probably the most relatable monster of them all. After all, he was made in his creator's image and so he is a very human creature in the books and the movies. So when it comes to using icons of horror for advertising, Frankie is right at the top of the list of spokes-monsters. He is just the monster casting agents love! But is all this exposure good for the monster and his maker or is it a detriment? Let us see...
OSTEO BI-FLEX helps out his aching joints:
The monster picks up the doctor's favorite drink, ORANGE SHASTA COLA:
The monster learns to share a TWIX:
The monster discovers REESE'S PEANUT BUTTER CUPS:
The Frankenstein family loves the VW Bus:
The classic FRANKENBERRY (I always think half Frankenstein Monster, half Elton John with Karloff's voice):
Here are some examples of the FRANKENSTEIN story showing up in other places:
ASTROBOY takes on a malfunctioning FRANKENSTEIN robot in this classic!
MIGHTY MOUSE in "FRANKENSTEIN’S CAT":
The band WILLOUGHBY has this song/video “FRANKENSTEIN”
FRANKENSTEIN FOR PREZ:
FRANKENSTEIN WASTES A MINUTE (or two) OF CONAN’S TIME--back when Conan had the LATE NIGHT show:
FRANKIE VS D’ARTAGNIAN (neat little animations, of which there are many worth viewing:
TWILIGHT should fear FIRELIGHT (very short advert here once you click the link over to Hulu--worth it, though):
Ah, don't you just love places like youtube? They're like my brain in that whenever I hear an advertisement more than once it will tend to stick in there and there's no escape, no matter how hard I try to forget it. Youtube will have these things stuck inside it forever--looping back and forth...embed to embed, link to link...infinitely.
I say don't worry about overexposure, there's enough Frankenstein and his Monster to go around. Their story is bigger than all of this, so sit back and enjoy the new twists on an immortal tale!
And now until tomorrow, a greet as a treat:
